Lone Star College reduces life skills program tuition to $8 per contact hour

Tuition on a Lone Star College-Tomball program designed for students with cognitive disabilities was cut in half after the college system’s trustees voted to reduce the cost Aug. 3.

The gist

The cost of enrolling in LSC’s lifePATH Foundations program was cut from $16 per contact hour to $8 per contact hour. According to an Aug. 17 LSC news release:

  • The lifePATH Foundations is one of three lifePATH tracks offered by LSC and teaches students “specific foundational skills.”
  • The foundations program does not offer students course credit toward a degree but instead a certificate of completion.

“The lifePATH program at LSC gives neurodiverse students the soft and hard skills necessary to enter the world and pursue gainful employment. LifePATH is designed to enhance their academic, career, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills,” said Anne Ginnett, LSC-Tomball lifePATH director, in the news release.

The big picture

LSC’s lifePATH program also gives students the opportunity to intern with local partner organizations or work toward an Occupational and Life Skills associate degree.
